About the Staff:

Parsa Samii [founder/editor]

Parsa’s vision for GEM Tennis started 8 years ago in 2002. GEM Tennis started as an idea on a yellow note pad and to this day GEM continues to evolve.  GEMTennis.Com launched in May of 2009. The site is dedicated to bringing all of the best tennis information on the internet to one site. One of Parsa’s many dreams is to share his views on tennis and GEM Tennis allows him to achieve that dream.

As a Division 1 collegiate athlete Parsa competed at UMASS-Amherst finishing his tennis career with one of the best winning percentages in UMASS’ history. As a professional, he competed in various professional tournaments around the world with the best talent that tennis had to offer. As a coach, Parsa currently works with top junior talent that aspire to be collegiate athletes and touring professionals. He also has travelled as a part time coach on the ATP tour. He believes that improvement and development of a tennis player is based on four characteristics: Passion, Hardwork, Dedication, and Self-Belief.

From Parsa:

My passion for the game started at the age of 13 because a friend needed a fourth for a group tennis lesson. From that very moment I had an instant and unbreakable connection with the sport. Starting that day, I lived and breathed the game honing my skills at the prestigious Port Washington Tennis Academy. I also spent a couple of summers at the Nick Bollitieri Tennis Academy (now IMG Academy) in Bradenton, Florida. As much passion as I had for the game it didn’t instantly turn into the greatest results. Through hardwork, determination, and perseverence I’ve grown to learn exactly what it takes to win in this game and also in life. This journey has travelled great distances and the path ahead continues with no end in sight. I’ve cherished every moment in this sport including almost every possible type of pain (mental, physical, and emotional) and I’m battle tested and still standing. Tennis has given me much more than I could’ve ever imagined and coaching allows me to share my experiences. Because of this I’m very grateful and appreciative of those who support my efforts and at the same time I’m very proud of those who choose to try and push themselves beyond they’re perceived limits. Always reach for your dreams!

Hello- Reading some of the articles on GEM Tennis, you are obviously into the details of the game. Please allow me to introduce you to the TNT Gauge (for “Tennis Net Tension”), which will be used on all the courts at this year’s US Open. Only introduced in May 2011, it is the first compact, practical device that accurately measures net cord tension, and has been used to great reviews by the NCAA, World Team Tennis, and 5 venues of the 2011 US Open Series including the Cincinnati Masters event (all 16 courts). As printed in the full-page article in the January 2012 issue of RSI News, the TNT Gauge has removed the tennis court’s last variable. Tennis Channel has done a Court Report spot about it, and Brad Gilbert praised it on ESPN2 from the Atlanta Tennis Championships.
My 2012 objectives are to continue implementation of the net tension solution into more tournaments, and I am approaching Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid and the French, and of course Wimbledon. If you would like to know more about the TNT Gauge, please visit http://www.tightcable.net, or contact me directly. Thanks!
