The Pre-Match Routine (Video included)

From the local club level to the elite matches of the professional tours the warm up or pre match routine is a key component to your potential success on the court. It is very important to follow steps that get you prepared to compete from the very first point. In general, the worlds best players begin their preparations up to 2 hours before their scheduled match times. This includes an on court fitness warm up (jogging, stretching), a light 1/2 hour hit, and time to calm the mind and visualize how you want the match to play out.

Often times players start slow because their focus doesn’t start until the moment they step on the court. This can all be avoided with a simple routine that prepares you to play your best possible tennis at that given time. Good luck figuring out what prepares you to win and don’t be afraid to ask others about their routines to continue to learn new ways to create the tunnel vision necessary to win on the court.
