ChiChi’s Preview & Prediction for Caroline Wozniacki v. Vera Zvonereva

This match will boil down to one thing. Who will be able to keep cool with so much on the line. Who will be able to keep cool when the crowd is yelling, the wind is howling, and the sun is shining. Both women can hit solid groundies although I would consider Vera as the one who has the more aggressive nature and firepower. Both women have comparable serves and neither woman is going to gain an advantage at the net so volleys aren’t going to be a major factor. So who is more trustworthy under the pressure cooker that is New York?

My vote goes to the “Great Dane”. She is moving extremely well and playing high percentage tennis in some very tough conditions. Vera is having a solid year and has some big time experience getting to the Wimbledon final, but the US Open is different especially this year with the conditions being the way they are. Tomorrow, the forecast calls for 15 mph winds. I will go with the counterpuncher that is Wozniacki who will make less errors and allow Zvonereva to slowly start to make mistakes and eventually have one of her “mini mental breakdowns.” Little Miss Sunshine moves one step closer to winning the pageant. Wozniacki 75 64.

Prediction: Wozniacki over Zvonereva 7-5, 6-4.
