Kevin Anderson: No Opportunity Lost
South African Kevin Anderson is through to tomorrow’s semi-final match after defeating Slovakian Lukas Lacko 6-3, 6-4. The world #96 didn’t waste any opportunities. He was a perfect 2 for 2 on break point opportunities and he didn’t face a single break point on his own serve. Anderson was all around efficient including 10 total aces in the 1 hour and 16 minute contest. “First thing was to take care of my service games and I thought I did a rather good job on that … Just really tried to take any opportunities that presented themselves,” Anderson explained. Job well done!
In the semi-final Anderson faces either big serving John Isner or speedy Michael Russell, whom he’s playing doubles with this week. Both player play completely different styles and the matchups of strengths and weaknesses also differ. Against Isner, Anderson will need to hold serve and be very patient facing the Isner serve. Against Russell it’ll be challenging for Anderson to keep the points short and to stay aggressive against Russell or else the feisty Russell will find his way into Anderson’s service games.
