Wimbledon Ladies Finals Prediction
Wimbledon Ladies Finals Prediction
I chose Serena Williams before the tournament began (http://www.gemtennis.com/2010/06/20/getting-ready-wimbledon-preview/) and I’m not going to change that stance. What we’re looking at for this matchup is an established champion, Serena Williams versus a should have been a champion in Vera Zvonareva. This year the ladies draw at Wimbledon featured upsets and surprise victories all leading to opportunity for the Russian Zvonareva and she has taken full advantage of it. However, her run ends here. Serena is heavily favored as well as more experienced and athletic. In stroke matchups, Serena has the edge on her forehand, backhand, serve, movement, mental strength, and experience. Its simple Serena is better and it would take a major breakdown for her to lose today.
Prediction: Serena in straight sets.
