Roar of a Champion: Serena Williams

Defending champion Serena Williams defeated Li Na of China 7-6 (4), 7-6 (1) in two exhilarating sets of tennis. The match had the feel of a true battle  and was defined by grit and competitive spirit. Both players went toe to toe for most of the match, but in the end Serena willed herself to the final on Saturday night in Melbourne.

FUTURE OUTLOOK: Serena has a lot of tennis ahead of her including the women’s doubles semifinal match with her sister Venus. It may pose a problem with her fitness, but this year, as in championships in the past, has the feel of a Serena Williams victory. It’ll take a monumental effort from either Henin or Zheng to dethrone the defending champion who will be competing in her fifth Australian Open final. Advantage Serena Williams.
