As Smooth As Silk: Roger Federer

For the 15th consecutive time, world #1 Roger Federer defeated Australian Lleyton Hewitt. Federer dominated most of the play as well as every big point in the match en route to a 6-2, 6-3, 6-4. Hewitt called Federer’s level of play “special.” The match was a nearly flawless display of tennis that should make the rest of the men’s field weary of facing Federer in the next round(s).
FUTURE OUTLOOK: This match was exactly what Federer needed. He felt virtually no pressure on his serve and he was able to fine tune many of his shots. His next opponent will be Russian Nikolay Davydenko, arguably the hottest player on tour plus he’s defeated Federer in their last two encounters. Davydenko barely squeaked through a five set victory against world #9 Fernando Verdasco 6-2, 7-5, 4-6, 6-7 (5), 6-3. Look for Federer to continue his hot play and take it to the Russian in straight sets. Enjoy tonight’s action, Nadal vs. Murray!
